Farewell rituals
Grief is the logical reaction to a loss. Mourning requires space and time. A consciously designed and experienced farewell supports the grieving process.
A successful farewell ritual honours the life of the deceased person, marks the transition to a life without him or her and opens up a perspective for the relatives that gives them strength and confidence.
Careful preparation and knowledge of the individual stages of the ritual are crucial.

Grief counselling
After the funeral service, the bereaved first have to sort out and relearn life again. It is possible that the environment reacts impatiently to this over time, in which case professional grief counselling is a good idea.
Feelings and pain have to be endured and told and thoughts have to be sorted, again and again, as long as it is necessary. mourning sessions enhance the ability to deal with grief creatively and consciously.
Private sessions provide plenty of space to honour your grief. When given space, grief can heal. At a later stage, grief groups or grief cafés can become helpful as they allow exchange with other people who have experienced a similar loss.
All along the process, we are never helplessly at the mercy of our feelings. We have numerous resources within ourselves that can stabilise and strengthen us. Grief counselling supports the self-efficacy of a mourner by finding and uncovering these resources. With the ability to grieve, one's own vitality grows.
Fee
Grief counselling: 120 CHF / hour.

Writing for mourners
Writing helps to distance oneself from the immediacy of a crisis and to better bear open wounds.
Writing is captured reflection: what is written down is paradoxically easier to let go of. Writing creates stories from which we draw and develop our identity.
Writing reduces the feeling of powerlessness and sets creativity free instead.

Grief and migration
Loss is often a very present experience for people during and after their migration: loss of home, loss of a familiar culture, loss of family members - whether because they had to leave them behind or through death. These experiences are often associated with feelings of grief, e.g. in the form of fear, pain, anger and other sensations.
In this workshop we will deal with the question of how we as undertakers, social workers or pastoral workers deal with experiences of loss and grief in our respective professional contexts. What possibilities are there to support people in living better with their losses?
